Cherokee Ranch & Castle in Sedalia CO

Rest assured when relocating to homes in Denver Colorado that unique cultural venues beautifully combine with the Western recreational lifestyle.  The Cherokee Ranch and Castle, set among the gentlemen's ranches in Sedalia in southern Denver CO real estate, stands out among them.

It is a vibrant cultural and educational center.
Cherokee Ranch & Castle hosts symphonies, teas, brunches, educational trips, special events, and tours.  Additionally, its working ranch, Santa Gertrude's Cattle Ranch, breeds prize-winning cattle--more in keeping with the image around Denver Colorado real estate.

Now operated by Douglas County, it was not always the owner.  In the late 1890s, the Flower Family and the Blunt Family began homesteading here.  In 1924, the Johnson Family relocated here from the eastern United States, purchased the Flower homestead, and built the castle.  Thirty years later, Tweet Kimball purchased the Johnson property as well as the Blunt homestead.  Combining the two properties, Kimball's territory included almost 3,200 acres of natural beauty and wildlife habitat.  He named it Cherokee Ranch.

During a 1996 conservation easement, Kimball sold the Ranch to Douglas County but a Foundation holds the deed.  It is currently a protected wildlife sanctuary.

With striking views of the Rocky Mountains, the Cherokee Ranch & Castle is a memorable destination for events and discovery.  The castle is now a museum that displays historic collections of fine art, furnishings, and memorabilia from around the world.  The original drawings by Sir Christopher Wren, the architect of St. Paul's Cathedral in London, are highly sought by art connoisseurs.  All in all, the property extols the West in an elegant package.

Tour guides sprinkle in anecdotes and recollections of the families who built and lived in the Castle since the 1920s.  Tours are conducted three mornings a week and are suited for adults and children who have reached the Fourth Grade.  Cost $15.

Guided tours are also included in the prices of the teas and brunches.  The English-style afternoon, special themed teas, private teas, and holiday teas cost $42 per person.  Private brunches and private buffet lunches are also available at a cost of $45 person.  Mystery Tea, a unique combination of the ideas of Murder Mystery dinner and Afternoon Tea, can be also be booked by private parties.  It features world-champion illusionists for an hour-long interactive show.

Proceeds benefit the Cherokee Ranch and Castle Foundation to support its charitable mission to preserve the natural environment, enhance cultural life in the state and provide educational opportunities devoted to western heritage, wildlife and the arts.
