IWG_logoCastle Rock, Colorado home owners are fortunate to have in their midst an experienced and caring group of people that make up the Integrative Wellness Group.  Integrative Medicine is located in downtown Castle Rock on 3rd Street real estate, number 340.

Heading up Integrative Medicine is Dr. Dave Barton, Chiropractor.

Dr. Barton’s vision for The Integrative Wellness Group is to treat the client’s whole body with a group approach.  Each Castle Rock practitioner at Integrative Wellness is highly trained, skilled and experienced in their individual fields.  The areas of concentration at Integrative Wellness Group are:  Chiropractic, Therapeutic Massage, Kinesiology, Acupuncture and Quantum Energetic Structured Techniques.  I’m with you… some of these I had never heard of before!  But here is a brief overview of these modes of therapy.

Chiropractic – Method of manipulation to bring the whole body back into alignment and natural posture.  When your body is out of whack it greatly impacts not just your posture, physical activities and pain level but your emotional and mental states as well.

This is why Dr. Barton believes that the whole body and mind should be treated, not just the body part that is screaming the loudest.  Dr. Barton received his degree in 1994 from Kansas City’s ‘Cleveland Chiropractic College’.  Dr. Barton has treated several sports teams including the Denver Broncos.

Therapeutic Massage – What I’ve learned recently is that therapeutic massage is NOT a feel good massage!  The point, as I see it, of therapeutic massage is to irritate the body in the afflicted area where a tendon or muscle attaches to the body.  This irritation gets the bodies attention and the body responds by increased blood flow to the area and thereby healing itself.  Dave Elzey is the Therapeutic Massage Therapist at Integrative Wellness Group and was voted “Best of the Best in Therapeutic Massage” in Castle Rock two years running 2008 and 2009!  I went to Dave with a pinched Sciatic nerve and horrific pain and with just one therapeutic massage session my pain stopped for good!  Dave is my hero!   🙂

Kinesiology is something I wasn’t familiar with before going to Integrative Wellness.  Most know kinesiology as the study of movement of the human body.  Tamlyn Hill is the Kinesiology expert at Integrative Wellness.  In Kinesiology muscle strength and health in different parts of the body are tested and the ‘feedback’ they give is used in conjunction with the emotional and mental state in what is called a “Balance Session”.  The information acquired in the Balance Session is not always readily accessible in a regular conscious state.  The information collected in a Balance Session is released through the conscious brain as well as the body.  Kinesiology is used to help in many areas including:  overcoming trauma, phobias and fears as well as pain mental, physical and emotional stress.

Acupuncture has two types: Chinese and Japanese.  Ann Johnson, who has recently joined the Integrative Wellness Group, has long been a student of the Chinese method of Acupuncture.  Ann attended the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine where she graduated with honors and went on to get a Masters of Science Degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.  Ann is also a Nationally Board Certified Herbalist and Acupuncturist as well as an educator and CMT.  Acupuncture is very helpful for those who suffer with depression, addictions, pain, ADD, ADHD, insomnia and much more.

Quantum Energetic Structure Technique (QEST or QE) is definitely something I had never heard of before.  Raedene Vanden Heuval at Integrative Wellness uses QEST which is a compilation of several techniques to gain maximum healing.  The three techniques are 1) a specific treatment order; 2) nutrition that detoxifies chemicals and toxins from the body while building cell energy, and 3) an approach to physical health that promotes balancing the energy in the body and boosting the body’s immunological response.  QEST can benefit those with degenerative, digestive or inflammatory conditions as well as those with ligament or muscle trauma, head trauma or whiplash injuries just to mention a few.

R & N's Keene Ranch HomeCastle Rock, Colorado is a highly desirable town to live in and offers future Castle Rock real estate home owners several different styles and types of high-end real estate neighborhoods in which to purchase or build their Castle Rock, CO dream home.  In hopes of helping you distinguish the nuances and differences between these Castle Rock estate style neighborhoods we are offering an synopsis of each below:

Castle Pines Village is the Holy Grail of ‘Colorado style’ luxury golf course communities.  This 3,000 acre enclave is home to two great golf courses, one of which is where the International Golf Championship was held for many years.  Estates home sites are on 1 plus acres and range in price from $800,000 to $33,000,000.  Castle Pines Village is a 24-hour manned gated community where all the homes are hotwired directly into both the fire and police departments.  Whether you prefer sweeping mountain vistas or cozy wooded settings you will find it in Castle Pines Village.

Diamond Ridge Estates is located northeast of downtown Castle Rock on a huge bluff overlooking the town of Castle Rock.  This luxury neighborhood is built amongst a wildlife preserve of 90 acres that offers a wide variety of wildlife viewing.  Many of these homes are built on the bluff overlooking the town.  Sweeping mountain vistas are common to many home sites in this neighborhood.  Lots in Diamond Ridge are 1 to 2 acres and range in price from $800,000 to $2,000,000.  Diamond Ridge is nicely located just outside the town of Castle Rock and in close proximity to the town of Parker, Colorado.

Bell Mountain Ranch Estates is located south of the town of Castle Rock Colorado and offers a more rustic and unique setting for its high-end, custom, estates set on 2-15 acres lots.  This area has a more native look to it as Bell Mountain Ranch strives to preserve Colorado’s natural landscape.  Formal landscaping is allowed on a small percentage of the lot, that which surrounds the house.  Home owners enjoy stunning Colorado sunset views off their decks and balconies, a fabulous way to end the day!  Custom homes prices in Bell Mountain Ranch range from $500,000 up to $2,000,000 or so.  This semi-equestrian neighborhood allows for horses on home sites of 5 or more acres.  A horse stable is located at the edge of the neighborhood where one can stable their horses or rent a horse for riding.  Miles of riding and hiking trails run all throughout Bell Mountain Ranch Estates.

Keene Ranch is a premier neighborhood of a different kind; a very upscale, equestrian enclave tucked away from the world but close in to all the amenities of Castle Rock.  Keene ranch is located just 5 miles southwest of Castle Rock and 35 minutes or so from downtown Denver.  These beautiful custom estates are on 5 to 35 acres home sites set on rolling hills with meadows or hills filled with Gamble Oak and Ponderosa Pines.  The numerous hills in Keene Ranch allow for many a majestic view of the surrounding mountains and mesa’s.  Miles and miles of horseback riding trails are woven throughout fabulous Keene Ranch.

Stapleton Denver HomeA great advantage to owning your own Denver home is that you can decorate it anyway you want – to reflect your own personality and style!   Below are some tips to help you get creative with the interior decorating of your Denver home.  Almost all of these tips are relatively inexpensive and fairly quick to do.  Tap into your creative vein and have fun… make it your home!

Try painting one wall in a room with an accent color.  This adds personality and dimension to a room and especially helps a room that has no architectural details.

Do you have a long hallway in your Denver home?  Add a mirror or large picture at the end of the hallway to take away that ‘dead-end’ feel and visually shorten the hallway.

If you have a home office or want a home office in your Denver home:

Be sure your office space is separate from other living space, i.e. not in your dining room or living room.  Dedicate an extra bedroom or a separate area in your finished basement for your home office. If that’s not practicable, how about converting a closet for your home office?

Organize your office space! An organized space makes for more efficient work and an uncluttered mind. Use baskets on shelves and containers or dividers in drawers to house like items.

Your creativity can be effectively enhanced by silver blue, soft gray or warm tan colors.  You might try muted greens, black accents, navy blue or sky blue colors which can increase general efficiency.

If you have clients visit your office, be sure there is a comfortable, welcoming space for them to sit while waiting or consulting with you.

Put a new look on old furniture.  Refinishing a chair or table is easy and you can darken or lighten the wood tones to fit in with your design plan.  Painting is even easier!  You can even spray paint furniture to give it a glossy, matte or satin finish and of course a punch of color if you wish!

Buy new, make new or recover old  accent pillows to add a designer punch of color.  Pillows are easy to do and are a very inexpensive way to change the whole look of a room!

Consider snappy new slip covers for chairs and couches.  There are now a wide range of shapes and sizes in different colors on the market.  If you are a talented seamstress you can sew your own!

Make a lighting plan for your space.  Consider up-lighting or down-lighting to highlight art, architectural accents and even plants.  Be sure there is general lighting and task lighting for specific activities such as reading, sewing or playing games.

greenCastle Rock’s Leadership Council is asking for the public’s help in devising an action plan that will spread green opportunities throughout the community of The Meadows at Castle Rock Real Estate.  This Action Plan developed by the Castle Rock Planning Commission, promotes MAJOR environmental and economic steps to ensure the viability of communities like The Meadows and other surrounding communities over the coming decades to limit energy consumption and save money where possible.  A Public workshop is planned for November 7th at 7pm at Castle Rock’s Town Hall for staff member to gather feedback and address roadblocks that prevent everyday citizens from pitching in.  It has become a hot topic as more homeowners explore ways to reduce heating and electricity costs through energy savings wind turbines or solar panels in their own back yard.  Castle Rock’s government has developed a team called “Project Green” that recommends cost-savings ideas that also could reduce expenditures and spending money on Eco-Friendly products for the homeowners. For Example, Castle Rock has recently used a $175,000 grant to convert Streetlights throughout the downtown area from traditional bulbs to LED lights.  Sophisticated irrigation systems with weather stations that read wind, temperature and evaporation rates are being installed.

“We can go beyond town government and to directly to the homeowners and HOAs” said Heather Vidlock, Planning Manager of the Town of Castle Rock.  The all-encompassing plan potentially could entail code revisions to enable alternative energy systems, incentives for Green Building and Public Outreach to educate the homeowner associations about how they can participate through water conservation and recycling.

This is a GREAT opportunity for our major communities such as The Meadows at Castle Rock real estate to get involved and let the homeowners speak out for Green Conservation and energy cost savings.

The Grange at The Meadows in Castle RockThe Grange is the heart and hub of Castle Rock’s premier real estate master planned home community known as The Meadows at Castle Rock.  The Grange’s architecture makes it one of Castle Rock Real Estate’s most readily identifiable buildings as it is reminiscent of an old time barn with its red color and stone base.  But don’t be mislead, the Grange is a very cool place (and I’m not just talking about the pool)!

The Grange is not only a multi-functioning home community center but also a learning and growing place for all ages.  From music and art lessons for very young children to The Meadows’ Cotillion that teaches 5th & 6th graders the social graces from handshaking to ballroom dancing to clubs for women over 50 and free seminars on Medicare for seniors.  There are also self-defense classes for women, art and music classes for all ages and levels of accomplishment and, speaking of accomplishment, check out Odette’s Cuisine where you can learn to bake and cook like a French/Belgian chef for your family!

Celebrate Veteran’s Day by stopping by the Grange November 10th-13th, 2009 and filling out a postcard to be sent to soldiers who are away from home.  The Grange is working in concert with the “Letters From Home” organization to get our troops this much needed support and comfort.  For more information please see our previous blog article on this event to benefit our soldiers.

Speaking of ‘in concert’ be sure to visit the Grange on November 20th, 2009 and spend a lovely Sunday afternoon listening to our own “Castle Rock Orchestra Chamber Ensemble” float their magic notes for our listening pleasure.

Aside from all of the wonderful and enriching activities that occur at the Grange there are two large rooms at the Grange that are available to be rented by residents for events, social gatherings, classes or seminars.  Please contact the Grange for more information.

Finally, the Grange provides a wonderful get-a-way that kids and adults alike love: its super big pool with huge tube water slide!  There is plenty of lounging space around the pool along with bathrooms/dressing rooms poolside for residents use.  Poolside at the Grange is the place where you and your family will want to spend the Summer.

The Grange is located at 3692 Meadows Boulevard, Castle Rock, CO 80109 and they can be reached at 303.814.2358.

United States FlagPlease Support our troops at The Meadows in Castle Rock! Join the group and support your troops at the Grange in The Meadows neighborhood in Castle Rock, Colorado.

On November 10th through 13th at the Grange in The Meadows, between the hours of 10 and 5, you will have a very special opportunity to support your US Military troops that are stationed away from home!  Save a few minutes in one of these days to drop by and encourage our troops by writing them a postcard or two.  More than cookies, chocolate or other goodies, your words of encouragement and appreciation are vital to our soldier’s moral.  War is ugly!  I speak from personal experience as my son, Daniel, an Army sergeant, went to Iraq for a yearlong tour in 2006.  During his year over there he experienced watching his friends and ‘war buddies’ being killed in gun battles or by IEDs.  Thankfully, even though Daniel was in an IED explosion, he wasn’t hurt badly (a miracle)!  What meant so much to Daniel was getting news from home.  It didn’t matter if it was from myself, his family or friends of mine he had never met… what mattered most to Daniel was knowing that he mattered to folks at home!  So, I do encourage you to get out to the Grange at The Meadows in Castle Rock and write a supportive and encouraging post card to send to our troops.  Throw in a few anecdotal stories about life in Castle Rock, Colorado or the USA.  Let them know you greatly appreciate them and their sacrifice… because they do sacrifice their time, their families and their limbs and lives for YOU!
