Foxfield Colorado Properties – A Rural Spot in the City

Southeast of Denver, the tiny town of Foxfield, Colorado southeast of Denver offers convenient country living.  Foxfield Colorado properties boast gorgeous, unblocked mountain views. In past centuries, the Kiowa, Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes gazed upon the same open space and blue skies.  The rustic signage at every entrance to Foxfield signals the intent of the 750 residents to preserve the rural atmosphere of their little oasis.

The low-profile town lies along Parker Road and Arapahoe Road in western Arapahoe County. Suburbs of the Denver-Aurora metropolitan surround this unique country hamlet.  Arapahoe County extends north/south for 72 miles along Denver’s east side.

Large Foxfield Home Sites

Families looking for small Denver horse properties look to Foxfield. Foxfield home sites must be at least 2 acres, as per the town. So, Foxfield real estate includes distinctive custom homes built over the last 50 years. Development began with Arcadian Acres. Real estate in Foxfield was once owned by the Davidson brothers. Their heirs sold their farming and ranching acreage to developers.

Community Spirit

Foxfield thrives on a continuing sense of community. This community spirit embraces pride in home ownership, civic responsibility, and volunteerism.  Residents communicate on outdoor bulletin boards and through the Communique Newsletter to advertise events and happenings. No one would want to miss events such as the Fourth of July Parade and annual town barbeque.

The business district consists of a small strip mall called the Barn Store, which supplies the town a 1 percent sales tax for revenues.  In addition, the community benefits from County services.

How Foxfield Stayed Independent

As population growth and suburbia closed in on the Foxfield neighborhood, residents proactively determined to hold on to their rural country atmosphere.  Working together, they educated each other about the issues, held meetings, and wrote newsletters. They put off larger communities such as Greenwood Village and Aurora that wanted to annex the area.

In 1994, Foxfield residents voted to incorporate.  Then they held a big auction to get the funds to run the town!  The incorporation model was studied by Lone Tree and Centennial during their own incorporation processes.
