The community calendar is chocked full. For over 80 years, the Harvest Festival in September has been the place for family fun, a carnival, booths, free concerts, a parade, and a family movie. Over 30,000 people come out for that one. Then there is the Golf Strike Festival in June celebrating the first gold strike in the area. In December, the cozy Lagniappe (French for "small gift") Christmas festival with tree lighting ceremony, free carriage rides, carolers, photos with Santa, and hot chocolate and cider comes straight out of the chapters of our heritage.
