The community also enjoys a new state-of-the-art recreation center which also offers an extensive list of programming and activities.
For employment, residents have convenient access to downtown as well as the Denver Tech Center, Inverness, and other business parks, and a bustling business district in the city. Additionally, Centennial Airport, a facility providing transport for services and private aircraft, lies adjacent to the city limits and there are plans underway to improve transportation to the Denver International Airport. It's a quick trip via light rail to shopping, cultural, and sporting venues around the metropolitan area and a scenic ride on the Ski Train and shuttles to the world-class ski areas in the mountains.
Families are served by two excellent school systems, Cherry Creek School District and Littleton Public Schools, as well as private school options such as Belleview Christian School and Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran School. The highly acclaimed institutions are social centers for friendly camaraderie.
Residents of the area voted to incorporate as a city in 2001 in the largest incorporation of its kind in the history of the United States. The young city received national recognition in Government Magazine. The process also resulted in "Our Voice, Our Vision, Centennial 2030," a plan to turn hopes and dreams into reality and in 2008 citizens approved a new home-rule charter. They continue to be forward-thinking planners and executors, organized by homeowners associations and through hi-tech methods. This is a place "where tomorrow is better than yesterday."
