Denver International Airport (DIA)

Denver International Airport
The tremendous value of the Denver International Airport (DIA) to businesses and residents of real estate in the Denverarea is immeasurable. Located in the spacious far-northeastern portion of Denver Colorado real estate, the presence of the state-of-the-art airport along with its commuter train is creating an influx of a variety of new Denver neighborhoods all the way out from the city.  Most of the new home developments are in Aurora, with supporting commercial Denver CO real estate nearby.

he new airport is the largest international airport in the nation, extending over 53 square miles. It boasts the longest public-use runway in the United States. Across the globe, only the King Khalid International Airport is larger. In 2007, DIA and its 30 airline carriers reported 49,863,389 passengers and 614,169 aircraft movements, ranking 11th and 5th respectively in the world.

Even with all of that activity, the Denver International Airport has been voted Best Airport in North America by the people who read Business Traveler Magazine and Best Run Airport by Time Magazine.

Along with efficiency, however, heads also turn to awe over the distinctive design elements. The first thing anyone will notice is the roof of the building and its white peaks of the simulated snow-capped Rockies towering 12o some feet above the terminal's main floor. White marble walls are quarried from Marble, Colorado  -  the same quarry that supplied the Lincoln Memorial.

The pride and joy of the Terminal is a central atrium, walled by glass and covered by a translucent tent-like roof. Varieties of granite from around the world are carefully designed into the floor patterns, echoing the roof design and directing passenger flow. Passengers access the 1.5 million-square-foot Terminal on three levels. Departures happen from Level 6; taxi, van, and shuttles on Level 5; and arrivals are picked up on Level 4.

Denver International Airport's passenger bridge offers a unique solution to providing a sterile corridor between international gates and customs' services. The double-level glass and steel bridge arcs 365 feet from Concourse A to Jeppesen Terminal. The top level is used for arriving passengers and the lower level is a destination spot for domestic passengers who would rather walk than ride the underground rail system. As passengers walk over the span, they discover amazing views of the Rocky Mountains, Downtown Denver, the prairie to the east, and the entire airport, including commercial airplanes taxiing below.

DIA is a prized asset for our community, allowing the free flow of millions of residents and visitors. It is truly a landmark in the Mile High City.
