Real estate in Littleton, Colorado is located in south-central Denver real estate, west of Interstate 25. Littleton is the county seat for Arapahoe County but portions of the city are in Douglas and Jefferson counties. A collection of old buildings in the Main Street Historic District focuses the center of Littleton's community activity. That is one place where residents of Littleton's master-planned communities, historic Littleton homes, and Littleton horse properties visit on a regular basis and during special events such as Western Welcome Week and the Candlelight Walk.

point to stop by the 14-acre Littleton Historical Museum, which is a working homestead complete with farm animals and staff dressed in period costume.

Settlers, including merchants and farmers, first came through the area during the Pikes Peak gold rush in 1859. Engineer Richard Sullivan Little of New Hampshire was hired to lay out a series of ditches to carry water to farms and businesses. Little then brought his wife to the west. Along with several neighbors, they farmed and opened the Rough and Ready Flour Mill in 1867, which provided an economic base for the community for years.

When the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad came through, the settlement began to grow. As schools, churches, a hotel, and stores blossomed, the couple hundred residents voted to incorporate as the Town of Littleton in 1890. Agriculture continued to support the community well into the 20^th century until electronics, pneumatics, aerospace, manufacturing, and construction began booming.

The proactive community boasts a thriving economy and an internationally recognized economic development program. Additionally, the Chamber of Commerce plays an active role in weaving together the community's diverse markets. Just as meaningful in the success of the community is the active

populace of over 42,000 who assist in the schools, governance, parks, community events, and elections. Community pride is evident in the large amount of volunteerism.

Placing a priority on education, the community began the Arapahoe Community College in 1965. ACC now enrolls over 22,000 students on 8 campuses. The Colorado School for the Blind and Denver Theological Seminary are also located here. Families are served by the Littleton Public Schools and a selection of private schools.
