Located southeast of Boulder and a short 20 minutes from Downtown Denver real estate, the mountain community of Superior has grown exponentially in the last twenty years. With the subdividing of Rock Creek Ranch in the late 1980s, the population of 250 expanded to the current 13,000 residents of Superior CO homes. Superior is situated off the Superior/Louisville interchange on Highway 36.
Most of the real estate in Superior Colorado is within the Rock Creek Ranch community. By 2006, the community contained about 2,700 single-family homes and 1,800 multi-family homes. To the west is another newer subdivision with beautiful new homes called Sagamore. Additional single-family homes and multi-family developments are on the sketchbooks for this great location along the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains between exclusive Boulder CO homes and Denver real estate.
The Town's master plan has integrated future development of commercial and retail properties as well as inviting a range of industries in realms such as scientific, management, administrative, waste management, manufacturing, education, health, and social services.
As far as commercial options go, the Superior Marketplace Shopping Center has stepped to the plate to accommodate growth in the area. Just minutes away, the Flatiron Crossing Mall offers big names like Nordstrom, restaurants, theaters, an outdoor village and services.
The Boulder Valley School District serves the children in the area.
Beginning in the late 1800s, settlers stayed in the area after the discovery of a superior quality of coal by farmer William C. Hake. The Town of Superior was founded in 1896 and incorporated in 1904. During its prime, the 400 residents enjoyed a school, church, livery stable, saloons, pool halls, a general store, barbershop, and boarding houses. Hake's Industrial Mine sustained the community for decades until it closed in 1945. One hundred fifty residents left at that time and the area turned into a quiet ranching and farming community.
